SUPPORTED LIVING SERVICES

Desert Arc’s For Your Independence Program provides living skills training in two distinctly different areas for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The FYI programs follow Title 17 regulations and are funded through Regional Centers.

Independent Living

FYI offers an independent living skills (ILS) program that provides services for individuals to live as independently as possible while remaining in their family home. Training and support is individualized and tailored toward each person’s needs. Our team of highly trained and dedicated staff works within the participant’s circle of support to develop and enhance their role within the family. Possible areas of support might include but are not limited to household and money management, travel training and community integration.

Supported Living

FYI also offers a supported living skills program (SLS) that provides services for individuals to live as independently as possible living in their own homes. SLS is a three pronged approach. The first is individualized training that assists participants in learning to use their own resources to effectively reach their personal goals. Secondly, personal support services are made available to those who need assistance on a continuing basis. Thirdly, emergency support is provided as a safety net, providing 24/7 crisis intervention. Our caring and motivated staff provides individualized training and support in many areas but not limited to apartment transition, budgeting, medical management and development of community resources.
